This city entered the history of the Old world as territory, where prince period, international diplomacy and the idea of uniting Europe were born. It was also known as “Little Rome of the East”. This is the city of great princes, royal chancellors, Jewish rabbis, Italian, Polish, Russian architects, Armenian builders, Ukrainian Cossacks and metropolitans. Name of this city – Lutsk.

The age of prince Vitovt’s ruling brought Lutsk the most of fame. In history his figure is the most enigmatic. During small for history period of time Vitovt created powerful state from the Baltic to the Black sea. He chose Lutsk as the second after Vilno residence and the city, practically, became the capital of Large Lithuanian principality. Lutsk of those days was very international, here lived Ukrainians, Russians, Polish, Jews, Carayims. Each collectivity had its own type of church, system of taxes, peculiar architecture and planning of residential blocks.

In 1432 Vitovt invited the most powerful European monarchs of 15 countries to Lutsk. They came with their families and delegations – a lot of people wanted to see Vitovt, who was famous all over Europe. Arrived guests were 3 times more than there were citizens in the city. After the banquet, where 700 bullocks, 1400 rams, 100 aurochses and elks (nobody counted birds) were eaten and 700 tubs of honey and beer were drunk, all kings made a resolution about intergovernmental relations and agreed to create a collision of European states for resisting the Turks in Europe and about the necessity to give the same rights to orthodox and catholic churches.

Lutsk was given Magdeburg Right after that summit. This fact helped to develop handicrafts and trade in our region. International trade-routes went through the city, they united the East and the West. Up to the 17th century Lutsk was the political, military, administrative centre of all Ukraine-Rus.

During excavations in the wall of old foundation half destroyed manuscript was found. This was the diary of royal cook Svaroga, in which he conducted computations, noted the recipes of dreamed by him foods, described some events from the life of the city.

This manuscript became the base for an idea of creating in 1996 “Vitovt’s Crown” restaurant. It was built under the walls of medieval castle. There the dishes after age-old recipes are prepared and their names are the same as many centuries ago, besides, restaurant sticks to the old traditions.

In menu there are fowl with delicious berry dressing and fried on fire lamb. Tasty trout and eel are given here as everyday dish and an ordinary carp is given after the old and rare monasterial recipe in “arhiyereysky” style. That characterizes “Vitovt’s Crown” restaurant. Menu of the restaurant consists of 100 dishes daily (See chapter “Menu”). In general visitors are offered more than 300 dishes. Manufactured food is not used here. Even bread is made by ourselves. As for portions, their maintenance is so generous that not all visitors can eat desserts. And that’s a pity because “Vitovt’s Crown” is very famous for preparing sweet dishes.

In general, the restaurant is famous for 3 traditions – banquets (chapter “Banquets”), coinciding of an aesthetical and elegant dishes. That is unbreakable rule.
